DESIGN CHALLENGE

Create a cover for a preexisting book that utilizes typography in a visually-pleasing and engaging way. These book covers should be reflective of the content of the book without relying too heavily on visuals, choosing typefaces that resonate with the book.

SOLUTION

The book chosen for this project was Stephen King’s Under the Dome because of the themes and symbolism in the book. In order to represent the content of the book through typography, two main fonts were chosen to be used. The first one is a thinner and lighter font to represent the freedom outside of the dome, and a thicker, more imposing font to represent the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in the dome.
